Katarina Witt
German ex-figure skater Katarina Witt was born on the 12th of March in the year 1965. Witt is two-time Olympic champion, and widely regarded as one of the top female figure skating athletes of all time.
Witt won the first of her two Olympic gold medals for East Germany at the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics in 1984, and later won a second in 1988 at the Calgary Olympics. Witt is among two women who have successfully defended a singles Olympic women's title. The other one is Sonja Henie of Norway. Witt was four-time World Champion (1985-1987, 1988), twice World silver medalist (1982-1986) She took home six consecutive European Championships (1983-1988), an achievement that was only matched by Sonja Henie in the female figure skating world. Witt won ten Golds at 11 major international events from 1984-88, making her one the top figure skaters.
